Kinda Obvious...
If you didn't notice the site's header. I'm doing the Macross and Macross 7 Blu-Rays. I may do other projects and accept requests but just know that my school life is extremely rigorous and my free time is limited. I am not able to guarantee fast releases. Another project is also on the works but I will hold it off as the first two are of higher priority. [Edit, I changed the header. It doesn't mean that the project is dropped.]

SDF Macross is old enough And I think Macross 7 is too , to have been produced on film so a scan to Blu-Ray would good provided the film stock is in good shape. What I wonder about is ,Does the detail of the artwork warrant the transfer to HD ?
ReplyDeleteI found a 50 gig 1080p RIP that I am going to check against a great DVD source I found last year , by a group called Galaxy Network. They released a v2 of their earlier release.
Are you going to encode yours yourself or go with some other rip ?
Nice site update, and good to see you are still around, too bad the chat box got infested with blog walkers. Look forward to the releases you have planned. No matter how long they take for you to be ready to share them with us. Have fun on your time off of school, and relax tons as well. Sadly I have not been on IRC much, need to install Mirc later on. Wonder if there will be a plan too make Zettai KC BDs as seeing that they re-aird a while back. Also it is getting a spin off series based on Kyoske.
ReplyDeleteWell,,,I thought the previous version of SDF Macross I had was good but compared to the BD ,my previous copy was really grainy and muddy . And the file size was huge for a DVD rip,over 800MB for one episode.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to run it through Handbrake and try to clean it up. The DVD rip might be extra grainy because they tried to cram in info that just was not there in the first place.But I will probably end up going with BD
Thanks for the replies! I will get around these projects around early January. I would love to do the Zettai Karen Children Blu-Rays. I downloaded a 720p rip of both series and it looks pretty decent. I don't have the bandwidth and space to download the BDMVs. I would love to get an encoder however. :D
ReplyDeleteYep the BDMV files are big I am still waiting on the rest SDF files.I did priority on Ep 1 to do a comparison . There is about 51 GB total but when I finished it will replace a comparably crappy 30GB version so I will only add around 20GB. The same with M7 the first half is 42 GB.I know you're not much of a fan of loss less audio ,but, I'm also looking forward to the flac audio if for nothing else it will clean up the distortion during the battle scenes .

Just finished my remux of SDF Macross 1080p Turned out good as far as I can tell. 36 episodes ,50.6 gigs 1440x1080 x264 Flac. Amazingly enough the flac audio made a real difference in that the sound was clean. If you are listening on crappy little speakers you will never know the difference .But I have a Massive system ,complete overkill for even a large room, and I can hear the difference.

Delete2. I may take your offer on the RAWS, I'm trying to find an easier, less time consuming project to do. I don't know, maybe some hidden gem that no one has done a DVD rip for. We'll see what happens.
E-D ripped the USA version of ZKC aka Physic Squad from DVD. The video looks good but some of the text in the subs needs a bit of work . like the word O-kama they spelled it ohkama just little stuff like that.I had to re-name all the episodes to Zettai Karen Children ,but at least they left the ZKC translation as Zettai Karen Children in the subs and didn't replace it with physic squad like we were afraid they would do. E-D has some new bots that are super fast ,at least till every one figures out the changes

DeleteNo reason to do Macross yourself. I found awe-some raws and remuxed and timed them to fit really good .BTW Sivil is freaking HOT!!!
My Macross folder is now over 200 GB but they look and sound awe-some.
It would be easier to send you a Hard Drive with the files on it than try to send them on the net. Most of my Macross files are 1080p, and NOT licensed yet in the USA so act fast before they are.
